I.C.
As a young tenor saxophonist, there were two performers that I looked to as models for my playing: Steven Mauk, the saxophone professor at Ithaca College for the last 44 years, and James Houlik. In fact, I remember Steven Mauk’s Tenor Excursions album being worn out because I had listened to it so much while learning Walter Hartley’s Sonata. This was the beginning of a journey that is coming full circle with an exciting new chapter of my life.
As of August 2019, I will become the new Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Ithaca College. It is a privilege to build on the rich history and pedagogical foundations of teachers like Steven Mauk and Donald Sinta, who started the program. In this new position, I feel a great sense of responsibility to maintain and further develop this legacy. I am so excited to live up to the challenge!

With this said, I will greatly miss my students, colleagues, and friends in the Baldwin Wallace University community. I have learned so much at BW and developed wonderful relationships that I know will be lifelong friendships.
